Benjamin Meitzen

Bio
Benjamin Meitzen began studying music at age seven as a Suzuki violin student before switching to the cello at age twelve. He studied privately and performed with multiple youth orchestras through the Immanuel School of Music strings program in the greater Cincinnati area.
During high school, Benjamin was accepted into the Governor’s School for the Arts and performed as a soloist with the NKY Youth Sinfonia after winning first prize in the Julia Bartles Concerto Competition. He has also participated in programs including Aria Summer Academy and the Cincinnati Conservatory Cello Intensive.
Benjamin earned his Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Louisville in 2024 under the instruction of Professor Paul York. In 2026, he completed a Master of Music in Cello Performance with an emphasis in String Pedagogy, during which he served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Music Theory. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Music Education at the University of Louisville and is expected to graduate in May 2027.
As an educator, Benjamin teaches private cello lessons to students of all ages and works with Oldham County Arts Center Strings. He also serves on the faculty of the Kentucky Christian String Camp and regularly teaches with the Louisville Summer Cello Summit.
Benjamin currently resides in Louisville and is a member of Third Avenue Baptist church with his wife Bianca.
